Maternity Q&A PT. 2

View Post jump arrow down

Time just passed me by, and I am so behind on posting. I have a few more pregnancy looks that I want to share with you all as I shot them right before I had Averi. The last few days of my pregnancy I decided to enjoy and take time off. I spent tons of time with the kiddos, and just relaxing. Resting was much needed, as I realized that I never just sit down and do nothing. Moms, we are always on the go…when do we ever just RELAX?!?!

As promised, here is part 2 of the Maternity Q&A! All of these questions are from you all, so thanks so much for sending your questions in!

How do you prep for delivery and labor?

The only prep I ever do is pack a bag prior, and make sure to start eating tons of green apples so that I won’t get constipated (believe me it works). Before I go to the hospital I always take a shower, shave my legs, curl my hair, and put on makeup. Its just something about walking into the hospital feeling good! I always have tons of family and friends that like to come to the hospital when the baby is born and you know people be snapping pictures. I refuse for them to have me posted somewhere looking a mess. Judge me all you want, but hey I know they are actually taking pictures of the baby and I just happen to be in the background so why not look decent.

When is the best time to stop working when you are pregnant?

I think every pregnancy is different, and for me I have been fortunate enough to work up until the day I was having the baby. This go around with Averi my c-section was scheduled so things were a little different. I was feeling tons of pressure and having contractions so I decided to stop working 4 days before my scheduled date. Resting, and trying to keep the baby in as long as I could was the main goal, and I knew that me not working would be the best choice. I was also able to nest and get a few things done for the arrival of the new baby since I had a little extra free time!

How do you find time to get yourself dressed and put together during pregnancy?

Believe it or not, some days are way better than others. At times you will find me wearing the same outfit 2 to 3 times in a week because the dress of the week is comfy and easy to throw on. Other times, I feel like I have more time in the mornings to put on makeup and help Ahmad get the kids out the house on time. In the beginning stages of my pregnancy I feel like I have time and energy to get dressed up. Towards the end its really just survival mode. One thing that helps a lot is going to get my hair done on a consistent basis. When your hair is done you always feel better and even if you just throw on an outfit, you still look good. I also simplified my makeup routine and added more bronzer! I feel as if bronzer just gives you that extra shine that makes you have that pregnancy, natural glow.

How do you control your hormones and attitude during this time?

I had to ask my husband if I was hormonal during pregnancy, and he said “not really”. So I am going to roll with that, even if he was lying! I do think my patience runs out faster during pregnancy, and I have a low tolerance level of certain things. I may be more accepting and nicer when I am not pregnant, but its one of those things you never realize until someone tells you.

What is your go to maternity wear brands?

Brands that I love are: Store, Isabella Maternity, and even though Zara isn’t a maternity brand, I love the way their dresses fit for pregnancy because they tend to run big at times.

When is a good time to start a nursery?

The best time to start a nursery in my opinion is when you have the budget to do so. Don’t try to spend all this money on a nursery that a baby may not sleep in until he/she gets a little older. Diapers is the most important thing to me and what we always start to buy a little early. Ashton & Aubri nurseries where both done prior to their arrival, and Averi… lets just say its still a work in progress. It will be done before the summer is over, but I have had a hard time really narrowing down items that I want for the room.

Are your girls going to share rooms or have separate rooms?

Averi and Aubri will both have their own rooms. I will be transforming Aubri’s room into a big girls room and Averi will have a nursery.

What diaper brand do you prefer?

I am a Pampers lover! I am not a fan of Huggies wipes because they are to thick in my opinion, but I buy Pampers everything!

What advice would you give to first time moms?

I would say don’t stress on trying to be the perfect mom! Just do the best you can because its all a learning process. People will have their opinions on what you should and shouldn’t do, but do what works best for you. Their are tons of myths and ways to do things; but just do you. If you start trying to please everyone but doing what they say do of your baby you will drive yourself crazy!!!

If I missed any questions please feel free to write them in the comments section. I tried to answer the questions that were repetitive to make it a little easier. Many of you are asking if I am going to share the birth story, and the answer is YES! Everything is just a little delayed as I am trying to rest and recover.

Thanks for all of your love and support!!!!
