Spring/Summer Tablescape Ideas

View Post jump arrow down

I love hosting gatherings, and live for a beautiful tablescape. It’s something about creating the atmosphere, and giving the guest an experience. #DearAhmad is more like who is going to wash all of the dishes afterwards, and I am more about the aesthetic. It has been awhile since we had dinner with family where we could sit down and enjoy. Last year I I did a tablescape, but it was just us and the kids which was fun… but kids don’t care anything about whats on the table besides the food!

As promised I wanted to share a more up close look at the tablescape, and a few #bts photos of the prep work! I always say that creating a tablescape doesn’t have to be expensive, and over the years start collecting homewear pieces. I normally use everything that I already own, but this time I got these new glass cups wrapped in cane. I found them 50% off at Hobby Lobby and new they would be perfect. It is always good to add texture to the table, and adding it to glassware is fun and unique. Everything else used is old pieces I have collected over the years, but I have tried my best to find similar items for you all. So let’s get started….

PREP WORK

I like to find inspiration from either a book or Pinterest to get an idea of what aesthetic I am going for. This particular occasion was Easter, but it can be used for Spring/Summer as well. I was looking through the Jenni Kayne book and was inspired by the a photo from a floral garden party that was photographed in the book. I then took the inspo and made it my own by using my new plates from Fable that are honestly my favorite for everyday use. I also used vintage forks and knives that were Ahmad grandmas. I ditched the spoons because they weren’t needed for our dinner menu, and ditched the fancy rules of utensil placement on the table. Its 2021… SET YOUR TABLE THE WAY YOU WANT!

GIFTING

Whenever I host a dinner or an event at my home, I love to have parting gifts for my guest. Since the theme for my Easter tablescape was garden party, I made small boutiques for my guest to take home. Other great ideas you can do is jars of local honey, seasoning, bath salts, or any small gift that matches your theme.

FLORAL

Floral can be super expensive, but there are ways around it. I like to cut greenery from my yard and add in flowers from my local grocery store. I personally always stick with neutral color schemes, but you can have fun and get bold with your flowers to add a pop of color. If you are searching for certain flowers, I recommend going to your local (small business) floral shop and letting them know what you are looking for. Most times if you give them an advance notice they can order whatever you need and have it in time for your event. If you want to keep it safe and cheap, baby’s breath is always a great option as well.

We were so hungry, that I forgot to have Ahmad take a photo of the final tablescape, but I found this one in my phone. Head over to my IG highlight to see video footage of how it came out!

Whether you are hosting for Easter, a baby shower, or spring/summer this tablescape can fit all the themes. The food is the icing on the cake to the table, and will make the table come life! I hope this post was helpful and I loved seeing all of your tablescapes you sent me on Easter!!!! I will be doing more going forward so be on the look out!!!
