Sneak Peek of our Family Lounge Room & New Sofa

My kids have been wanting a lounge room upstairs, and when we moved into our home my daughters kept insisting they had a blue room where they could watch movies and play games. They wanted a lounge room where they could sit and read books and immediately I cringed when they said they wanted the room to be blue. If you know me, you know I am a neutrals girl at heart, but I remember when I was little and my mom let me paint my room lime green, so I couldn’t tell the girls no.

Believe it or not I found the rug in the room first, and that set the tone for the room. I wanted to pull the blue shades out of the rug onto the walls and color drench the room. We went with Sherwin Williams Bracing Blue in Matte finish, and the baseboards in the same color but with a sheen finish.

I was looking for the perfect sofa for the room and couldn’t find anything in the size and shape that I wanted or that would fit the space. Manhattan Home Design reached out and I was so excited because I’ve always wanted a Mario Bellini Sofa and originally was wanting it for our studio, but then realized that it would be the best option for the lounge since its modular. I love that we can make it a 3-seater when needed, and move it around when we want a more functional space.
