I get so many maternity questions that I decided to do a Q&A roundup! All of these are questions from you all, so thanks so much for following along on my journey. I do want to say these are my opinions, which mean some of them may not be what is right, but these are my answers and how I take on pregnancy. So lets get started…
Do you work out during pregnancy?
I personally do not work out during pregnancy because I am lazy (don’t judge me) and the only thing I really can do is walk due to a few complications. I walk over 8 hours a day at work, and on my feet all day so I opt out of the gym and walking outside of work. By time I get home I’m already exhausted, and running after 2 kids I always claim that as my workout. I know many woman that do workout during pregnancy though, and their bounce back game be so strong! Shout to those mommies!!
Do you eat healthy during pregnancy?
When I was pregnant with Ashton I tried to eat a lot healthier. I cut out processed meats and other selected foods that were on the long list of foods not to eat during pregnancy. With Aubri and Averi I gave up that lifestyle because it just became to hard when I am always on the go. I also have this theory (which could totally be wrong of course) but since I ate healthier with Ashton he is now allergic to literally everything. He has to have a strict diet which is so hard. Aubri came out just fine with no allergies to foods (thank heavens) and for some reason I just chunk it up to me eating whatever I wanted with Aubri. I no that is not medically proven, its just my theory. I have been eating a little better though with Averi because I’ve had low iron during this pregnancy. Once again, shout out to the moms that eat healthy during pregnancy and can stick with it. My cravings always seem to win and get the best of me.
Do you buy maternity clothes?
I personally do not buy maternity clothes because they are so expensive. With that being said I have been gifted maternity clothes which I love and fit great! Maternity brands that I love are Loft, Storq, Isabella Oliver, and Pink Blush Maternity. All of those brand have great options and have various price ranges. If I would have known I would have all my kiddos back to back I probably would have invested in buying maternity clothes for sure. I usually just shop the brands I love and go up a size or two. I buy tons of dresses during pregnancy which is always a good option because they tend to fit great!
Do you have any skincare routines that you do while pregnant? My skin tends to break out, and I don’t know how to get back to normal.
I try not to wear a lot of makeup because I believe that just clogs up your pores even more during pregnancy. Don’t get me wrong I do wear makeup during this time, but its not an everyday thing. I am also the girl who doesn’t like to use a lot of products on my face. I use a towel and hot water to cleanse my face and that is basically it. Our hormones are all over the place during pregnancy and I am always scared something will break me out and not work. I just say tone down the application of makeup and make sure to cleanse your face twice a day. Moisturizer is always the best option as well.
Stretch marks are always the biggest fear of women during pregnancy… What do you use to prevent stretch marks on your bump?
Ladies, LOTION should be your BFF during pregnancy. I am not joking… I make sure to rub my belly and my butt down twice a day with lotion. Before bed is when I really try to lather up and moisturize. Our skin is expanding and all it needs is a little love and moisturizer. I have been lucky to not get any stretch marks on my stomach, but I think its because I try to always apply lotion. They have tons on the market for stretch marks that you can use, or consult your dermatologist and have them recommend a cream that would work best for your skin type.
How do you wear heels during pregnancy with swollen feet?
Don’t let social media and my blog fool you. I do wear heels ALOT, but when my feet hurt or swollen I throw on my flats and sandals real quick.
How do you handle two toddlers when your pregnant and stay calm?
Without my support system I don’t know what I would do. My husband is so great with the kids and literally does everything! Between my in-laws, my parents, and their babysitter I get to breathe. Some days are tougher than others because of course you are still mom and all the kids want is mom and to be all over you. I just make sure to have ME time and relax when I can.
When is the best time to start shopping for baby products?
If its your first baby, then you have probably already over bought and spent tons of money on things that you don’t even need. I think the most important items that are needed are bottles, diapers, onsies, and bibs. Other products are just to make our lives a little easier I think, but long as you have a good supply of those things you are good to go. Of course you need a car seat and stroller and the bigger price point items as well. I would make a list of things to buy and honestly go down the list and check them off slowly. You have nine months to prepare. Since I never have baby showers, I’m not really sure what you need after one. You usually get tons of things if you register for your shower, and that helps a lot as well. I’m not a big baby shower fan, so ignore me!
Thank you to everyone that sent in questions. Many of you had the same questions so I narrowed them all down. If you would like for me to answer more just let me know and I can do a part 2. I just didn’t want to type every question in one post… it could get kind of boring right?!!
Keep sending in your questions, and I will be sure to answer them!
