Fall is approaching, and I have been cleaning out my closet and realized that most jackets don’t really go out of style. Majority of my jackets are staple pieces, so the return on investment was definitely worth it. You know its good when you bought something 3 years ago and you go back to the brand site and they have brought it back or brought it back with slight modifications, which means it sold out and was a good investment not only for the brand but for you too if you purchased the item. The only jacket I think I am adding to my closet this season is a suede blazer of some sort, but if I go to my parents closet or a resale shop I’m sure I can find exactly what I’m looking for. Things come back in style over and over again.
THE TRENCH
You never can go wrong with a trench coat! I repeat, you can never go wrong! A trench coat is a staple and no matter the color (camel, black, forest green, or cream) it can go with everything and will make the outfit. Here in Houston it has been raining so much off and on, so I like to pull out my trench on the rainy days. In the fall just change the boots and you will have a completely different outfit every time. I am wearing the Abercrombie Elevated Trench Coat that I have worn for a few years now, and the quality is amazing. I have rounded up a few more starting at $39!
THE BOMBER
The bomber jacket is another key staple that comes back year after year. You can wear a bomber jacket literally over anything. From military style, leather, varsity, and oversized – there are so many variations of the bomber jacket, and I will admit I love them all.
THE BARN JACKET
Ok, when did farm work wear become so trendy? I don’t own a farm jacket yet, and am still deciding if I’m hoping on this trend. I love the corduroy versions, but considering the fact that I have a closet full of jackets, I’m not sure if this is one I would wear and gravitate towards all the time. The verdict is still out on the barn jacket for me, but I have rounded up a few that are worth the price if you are on edge about trying it.
One thing that we will always wear is a jacket, and for the most part jackets tend to stay in style year after year. When deciding on a jacket just make sure it’s something that you can wear with multiple looks in your closet. I try to stick to neutral colors because I know I will get the most wear out of it, and as I mentioned earlier I am still on the fence about the Barn Jackets, but hey I’ve learned to never say never so you may see me rocking it one day! Let me know in the comments which jacket is your favorite.
