Influencing In Color

As you all may know by now, me and the band went on tour! Ok, I bet you are wondering what in the world I am talking about?! Meghan, Nikki, Brandy and I started Influencing in Color, and have officially launched our Instagram page.

What is Influencing in Color, you may ask?

A positive influence for women of ALL colors with a commitment to inclusion & diversity. We aim to inspire, educate, & encourage social change & pursue shared goals.

The opportunity presented it self through Nikki’s mom for us to be able to speak to some of the students at Huston-Tillotson University in Austin, Texas. We were so excited about the opportunity, and wanted to make sure we did something that was not only impactful, but inspiring. IIC decided to host a give back event, and collect items from our fellow blogger friends and create a pop up for the girls at Huston-Tillotson to shop. Through a Q&A, informative discussions and a unique shopping experience, we were able to assist in preparing the collegiate ladies for the world in style!

I think that one of the best parts about the event to me was the icebreaker that we had. We broke off into groups, and made the girls find at least one thing that they all had in common together. What we learned was many of the girls did not even know each other, even with it being a smaller university. I was glad we were able to connect the girls and make them realize that as women we must stick together. We gave high-fives, and connected on another level that was beyond inspiring to me. We knew the girls were itching to shop, but we wanted to make sure that we spoke and shared a little bit of our backgrounds and how we got started in the influencing world. The girls asked questions, and through open dialogue we were able to get them started on the right foot to start their own personal journeys.

I can not wait until IIC next event, as I know it will grow and be even better than the last. I mission is to inspire others, give back, and be able to help women follow their dreams. To learn more and follow our journey, make sure to follow us @influencingincolor on Instagram!
