Family Road Trip to Cinnamon Shore

View Post jump arrow down

Ok, let me first start off by saying… traveling with 3 kids for an entire week is a full time job! Ok now that I got that off my chest, lets dive right into Cinnamon Shore. Last September we decided we needed to getaway for a few days for my birthday and went down to Port Aransas, and rented a beach house at Cinnamon Shore. My family and Ahmad’s family met us down there and we had such a good time that we decided to go back for Aubri’s birthday this year. In this post I will share with you the details of both experiences , and give you the inside scoop and tell you why you should take a trip to Cinnamon Shore!

GREY MIST HOME

SEPTEMBER 2020 |

I know, a long time coming with this post, but if you follow along on instagram you probably saw my stories and how much fun we had. Before we get to the fun, the most asked question is how do we find some of the houses we stay in. Cinnamon Shore makes it easy as they have built a community of beach houses, and townhomes that are owned by investors/ families. They manage all of the homes and on their website so you can pick by date, number of guest, and look through all of the properties to find one that suits you and your family. Majority of the homes are updated and have nice decor, so home that you pick is a good choice in my opinion. This particular home had 3 bedrooms, and a bunkbed room which was perfect for the kiddos, Erica, and my little cousin. I loved the wrap around deck and swing on the porch which was perfect for moments we just wanted to chill but still be outdoors. The house has a great size kitchen and grill outdoors, so cooking was no issue. Everyone in our family has their signature dishes, so it makes it easy each night for someone to cook dinner!

You can rent chairs and umbrellas for the beach each day, which I loved because I didn’t want to pack those things. They have everything set up for you on the beach with your families name. What I loved most was how accommodating they were. We went in the midst of covid, and granted the beach wasn’t packed, but they moved our section further down the beach so we wouldn’t be next to anyone. This particular trip we just wanted to get out the house and have a change of scenery. There was no one at the pools, so we had the large pool to ourselves. We took the kids fishing which was fun, and they enjoyed being able to cast their rods (lake was located within a 1 minute walk from our beach house). This trip we spent most of our time at the beach and pool and enjoyed our 4 days away in the middle of covid.

JUNE 2021 |

We knew that eventually the world would be opening back up slightly, and decided to book a house back in January. I highly recommend if you are wanting to go to Cinnamon Shore make sure to book your trip several months out in advance. I did check while typing this post, and they do have tons of openings in September (prime hurricane season time), so I would book now! There were only like 3 homes available when we booked in January for our trip in June to give you a sense of how fast things book. This go around our house was literally right behind the house we stayed in previously, but near the busy road. Not the best view, but the house suited all or needs. When you rent your home I would also make sure to book a golf cart so its easy to get around the Cinnamon Shore community and to the beach. You can drive on the beach in your car, but it’s a different entrance and you have to pay. My in-laws got the tag and it was under $10 and the rest of us piled up in the golf cart when we wanted to get around. We also rented beach chairs and umbrellas this go around as well, and wish we would have did the shrimp boil they offered on the beach because it was smelling so good!

THINGS TO DO: There are numerous of things to do on property, below are just a few of my favorites

  • Beach: Cinnamon Shore has their own ramp access (for golf carts only) to the beach. The area is always lined up with the the Cinnamon Shore orange and white umbrellas and chairs which are so cute! (rent chair and umbrellas)
  • Bonfire 🔥 : we didn’t opt to do it, but it seemed pretty fun
  • Concerts: they have live bands on certain nights and you can sit on the lawn and watch the performances
  • Surf lessons on the beach
  • Workout on the beach: my mom went to a class at 9am and had a great time. She recommends bringing your sneakers for the workout. They also give you a beer after the class, but my mom doesn’t drink so no info on that part lol
  • Photos: This is a great time to capture those family photos while the entire family is there. I am lucky that I get to travel with Ahmad to take all of ours, but if not – they have a few photographers that they recommended that will come out and take photos for you!
  • Paint & Sip Parties
  • Pool: There are 3 resort style pools in the community. Stillwater Pool which is the smallest out of the 3 but heated. Kiera’s pool overlooks the lake and has a bar/restaurant on site, and then the Dunne pool that is perfect for children and has a grill, playground, and dog park.

Cinnamon Shore also has a store on market street that is super convenient. We went to the store several times, and they are stocked with everything that you can think of – from groceries to toys and household items. Next door is a small coffee shop where we fell in love with their smoothies. There are also restaurants that you can eat at in case you don’t feel like cooking one night.

Would I go back? Of course, because it is so close to Houston and a great escape. If you are looking for a fun summer vacation for your entire family then definitely check it out. It is even a great place to go to with another family and you can go in on the house together. I hope this post answered all your questions, and if not, leave me a comment and I will get back to you with the answer.

Happy Travels!!!
