Ashton turned 2 on January 18th, and lets just say that I was not ready. Where does time go? This year for his birthday I wanted to throw him something small, and try to make his birthday special by incorporating all the things he enjoy the most.

My original plan was to have him an indoor pool party because he loves the water, but after my husband talked me out of having summer in January I had to come up with a whole new plan. I have to keep reminding myself that Ashton doesn’t really care what we do, he doesn’t even understand the concept of a birthday yet.

The night before his birthday we made him sleep in Aubri’s bed (in which he was not excited about) so that we could decorate his room. We put balloons next to his bed, and Erica and I went late not shopping at Target to hunt down the Hot Wheels that were 40% off (download the Target cartwheel app so that you can catch the good deals). Ashton is in love with the little hot wheel cars,  so I decided to buy him several for his birthday. He received some on Christmas, and even though I step on them and he has them everywhere, I for some reason thought it was a good idea to get more.

Ashton woke up and ran to his room and was so excited. He loved his balloons and all of his new cars. We then took him to the trampoline park. His favorite part was jumping in the balls, and being able to run around none stop. After running around like crazy, we came back home and sung Happy Birthday so that Ashton could blow out his candles. We sung the song 10 times because he was obsessed with blowing out the candle. We even called my in-laws and my parents so they could sing to him over FaceTime and watch him blow out his candles.

Last weekend, we took Ashton and my godson Aundre to the aquarium. Ashton loves water and fishes so this was so exciting to him. I had never been to the Houston Downtown Aquarium, so it was exciting for me as well. We were able to ride the train around the park, see the sharks in tunnel, ride the carousel and the ferris wheel. Kids birthday parties usually last about 2 hours, but for some reason we were at the aquarium until 6pm. Talk about one tired momma! Ashton had both sets of his grandparents there, his god mom Trenace and Bruce, Aunti Erica and Aunt Sasha, and Uncle Ike and Aunti Mo all at the aquarium with him. He was one happy camper when everyone sung Happy Birthday to him. It was like he was waiting on that moment, and set there and smiled and took it all in.

Another birthday down, and I think I’m starting to get the hang of this birthday celebration thing. The highlight of it all is to see Ashton’s smile. I am so grateful to have him as my son, and blessed that I get to be his mommy! Now its time for me to start planning Aubri’s birthday party in June. I have something up my sleeve for my little baby doll! I can’t wait!

Thanks to everyone for all the birthday wishes! I told Ahmad that Ashton needs his own phone because my phone was blowing up the whole day for him! lol!!!!

  1. I think he is use to it now. He has been in front of the camera since the day he was born. Now he just stands there. I have to be quick though, he gets restless.
