I want to start this post by saying that I was at the gym and a lady came up to me and asked why I was at the gym. Lets talk about RUDE!!! With that being said, everyone has a different end goal, and workout plans are all different. I may be skinny, but hey I did just have two babies back to back. There are areas that I would like to tone up. My stomach is not ready for that two piece swimsuit that I used to throw on with no hesitation. Everyone has their own personal battles with their weight, size, and shape and so just be you at the gym and don’t let anyone try to take you out your zone!

Now that I am done with my 5 minute rant, back to regular programming….

If you know me, then you know that working out isn’t something that I enjoy. In high school track was my workout. I hated every bit of track practice, but I can say my legs were muscular and toned. Let’s fast forward… and not even count the years…. and my muscle tone is gone! They had been building a 24 hour fitness for a few months across the street from our neighborhood. As they were building I kept telling myself I was going to get a membership and really plan out time to go. Adding one more thing to my plate seemed impossible, but hey you have to work for what you want. They finally opened and my husband took me down there to get a membership. Now I’ll be honest I started off strong going everyday, and even sometimes at night with my sister. Then life happens and I’m like ok can I really do this everyday. So now my goal is to at least go 3-4 times a week. That is doable, achievable, and way more realistic.

One of my motivations on working out is having cute, comfortable workout clothes. A lot of times the gym is squeezed into my schedule so having something I can wear out before I head to the gym is a major plus! I am not one of those girls that spend $80 on some workout tights. At the same time I want to look cute and have matching pieces. My friend Erica Goodson put me on to the Nike Clearance store in Conroe. When I say everything is under $30 for the most part, and super cute. I bought sport bras, tanks, tights, sweatshirts, and atheliesure tops for $100 total. Talk about a steal right. I will never pay full price for my workout gear again. I encourage you to find a Nike outlet or clearance store in your area, take $100 and stock up. You can look cute while working out, and don’t feel bad at the end because you didn’t break the bank.

Also, I wanted to share a little insight about my Apple Watch. My husband surprised me with it a few months ago when he saw I was serious about my workout plan. My favorite part about the watch is that you can share your workouts and celebrate your friends and family success from their workout. Its all about positive motivation. When we were in Austin we did a family/friend workout session on Saturday morning before breakfast. It was great to see all of us inspire and motivate each other throughout the workout.

What do you do to stay motivated, and make sure you are working out?

  1. I try to “listen to my body” to keep me motivated. I aim for a bare minimum of 3 days per week, but say it’s a lift day, but I would rather just go for a calming jog or hike… I skip the weights and do the jog/hike, because the lift would have probably sucked or I just would’ve ended up not going at all lol… Something is better than nothing right?!
