Styling the Bump

View Post jump arrow down

Dressing up or even getting dressed in general can be challenging during pregnancy. I’ve become so lazy and exhausted, and after dressing Ashton and Aubri I just want to throw on sweats and a t-shirt and go. Seriously, why can’t pajamas be a normal work uniform? Since we can’t walk out the house in our pajamas daily, sorry bump mommies, I am sharing quick and easy ways to style your bump without a lot of effort.

  1. Hat: I have 3 go to hats that I throw on when I don’t feel like combing my hair. A hat doesn’t  only cover up a bad hair day, but can be the perfect accessory to your outfit. If you have a daughter then you already know combing their hair can be work (if your daughter is anything like mine and fights you every time you try to comb her hair). After getting her ready, I look at the time and I have about 5 minutes to get myself ready, so thank heavens for good hats!
  2. Blouse: Flowy blouses are in and are perfect because you don’t have to spend extra money on maternity blouses when tons of brands are making their regular tops flowy these days. During pregnancy I usually go up two sizes in tops that way I can wear them throughout pregnancy. This particular top is one of my favorites because of the sheer dot detail! Find blouses that have fun details or embellishments to wear so that when you throw it on, its like you really tried that day.
  3. Jeans: Ok ladies, finding the perfect pair of jeans is already challenging enough even when you aren’t pregnant. Adding a bump just makes the jean hunt even harder, but when I find a jean that fits the bump I literally buy either two pair or every color that they come in. This will make your life so much easier! I have never purchased maternity jeans, but just like blouses, I just go up a few sizes because its easier to resale non maternity denim after pregnancy, than it is to try to get rid of all your maternity jeans.
  4. Heels: Walk out the house in your favorite heels, and have your spare flats in your bag or car at all times. I start my day off looking fabulous, but who am I kidding, I can’t last in my heels all day. During pregnancy my feet swell and I just have to take a break from the heels some times. I either have a pair of super cute kicks with me, mules, or loafers that I can slide on when its time to ditch the heels.

This outfit can be worn again, and again during my pregnancy, and thats what its all about. Buy pieces that you want to repeat and make you feel ready for the day (like you put in all the effort in the world that day). Cant wait to wear this blouse when I’m not pregnant because I love doing a front tuck in my jeans. Oh, how I miss the front tuck! lol, don’t judge me!
