Chat with Shay: Q&A

View Post jump arrow down

Zara Dress | Zara Jacket | Cos Bralette (40% similar style here) | Steve Madden Shoes | Loft Sunnies

I first started Shay Monè as an assignment for grad school, and never thought that it would grow to what it has today. Granted Im not like some famous super blogger or anything like that, but I do enjoy this journey that I am on and can’t wait to see what the future holds.

Many of you have messaged me several questions over the past few weeks so I thought I would do a mini Q&A to answer some of the questions. I love chatting with all of you, and hearing your feedback and responses!!! It is funny that a lot of you had the same exact questions, so here we go….

What is your advice on starting a blog ?

Start a blog because you are passion about something, and not to gain popularity or success. I think once you put your passion into it then success will just naturally come. Make sure to stay consistent, and do it because you love writing or sharing knowledge about a topic wether it be fashion, kids, food, beauty etc.

When will you share more home decor on your blog, and more pictures of your home?

I love sharing my home with all of you on the blog, but my husband kind of hates it. He believes our home is our one place to have to ourselves, so that why I only share certain rooms. On snap chat you will see a little more as I do snap wherever I am at in the house at the time. I plan on sharing my office and we are going to re-do our half bath down stairs (hopefully this year) so I will post about that as well. I do have a decor tab on the site, so I will start to post more there for you all!

How do you stay organized?

Recently, I started adding everything to my calendar on my iPhone. I set alerts/reminders to make sure I don’t forget to do something. I also utilize my hubby and add important things to his calendar so that he can remind me and make sure I don’t miss a beat.

I also am a list taker. At work I make a list everyday of all the things that I need to accomplish that day. I scratch off everything as I go, and the things that don’t get tackled that day unfortunately get added to the list for the following day. I recommend going to Homegoods and buying a journal (they average from $4-$9) to help you stay organized.

What is your favorite trend this spring/summer?

Anything showing some shoulders, count me in. Whether its off the shoulder, cold shoulder, or what ever other names they may have for it, I love it!

Do you want to have another baby anytime soon?

I recently wrote a blog post, here, about my motherhood journey and how I don’t think that I am mentally prepared for having a baby right now. With that being said, I do want at least one more baby. My husband and I talk about it all the time, but we will see. I do know I want them all close in age, so maybe 2019 will be a good year, who knows!?

How long have you been married?

This year will make 5 years!!! I am so excited because we are going to Greece to celebrate.

Where do you shop for home decor?

One Kings Lane, West Elm, High Fashion Home, Z Gallerie, and Wayfair

Thank you all for your questions!!!

  1. Oh how I agree…never start a blog if you don’t have a passion for what you plan on writing about. There’s a lot of time, effort, and sweat involved and if you don’t somehow love every second of it, it can quickly become something that drags you down!

  2. I 100% agree on your reasons for starting a blog. If you’re not passionate about it, it won’t grow the way you want it to. Plus it makes those creative ruts even harder to deal with. I hope you share some of your Greece trip, it’s absolutely beautiful there!

  3. What a beautiful outfit and great way of answering those questions you probably get asked frequently. Now we get to know you a little bit better.

  4. I love your reasons for starting a blog! You definitely have to be passionate about something to keep it going – it’s definitely a labor of love!
