Traveling without your children can be emotional, but I honestly believe it is needed. Don’t get me wrong, I’m not saying you should take all of your trips without the kids, but at least once a year its okay to just get away and regroup.

  1. Regroup: Taking out time for yourself is something that we often don’t get around to doing because we are all over the place. In our minds the kids and family comes first, then work and everything else we have on our plate. In all that we do day to day, we must remember to relax and take a little time out for ourselves. Taking a vacation gives you not only time to relax and have fun, but regroup from the hectic weeks you have had. My husband and I always try to take a trip in the Fall right before the holidays. I mean we have just worked a whole 9+ months straight, and at the same time have had a baby and a one year old running around. Regroup may not even be the right word, but this mommy needed a little time to herself! Blogging is how I get to relax, so I was glad I got to shoot a few looks in Cabo and work on the blog during my vacation.
  2. Mommy/Daddy Time: Think about it, most of the time you are working, parenting, and throwing in an occasional date night every now and then when you have the time and can find a babysitter. Its important that you keep that spark in your marriage and have time for yourselves. My husband and I wanted to of course go to Cabo to relax, but we miss getting out and trying new things. In Cabo we went zip lining, and rented a boat out to see the arches. Creating memories together is one of the things I enjoy the most.
  3. Grandparents Time: If your parents and in-laws are anything like mine then you know that they always want their own personal time with the children. While my husband and I went on vacation, the kids had the chance to spend time with my parents for a whole week. My mom bought a double stroller and everything for her one week with them. My parents were so excited, and lets just say they came back home super spoiled.

Remember it is okay to take a trip and have time to regroup from it all. What do you guys do to have your “me” time and relax?
